From Roman Mythology to the Hollywood Golden
Age, from 1950s retro to Cyberpunk.
Jinndow aka John Dicandia has it all covered. His range of work is
spellbinding and the techniques he uses are considered by some as
traditional but he has employed his own unmistakable style with a twist.
There is a subtle hint of eccentricity which is not immediately apparent,
and there is an underlying sinister darkness which lurks in almost every
piece.
John has been drawing and painting as far back
as he can remember, probably about the same time the Jackson 5 won the
amateur comp at the Apollo, Woodstock and the moon landing, which he vaguely
remembers watching on his black & white TV.
John may live in a world of fantasy and make
believe but he is still very much in tune with his environment and draws
inspiration from everyday existence. Apart from the fine arts, he is an avid
reader especially inspired by characters in history and classical literature
only fuelled his imagination.
Combined with his love affair with cinema and
contemporary music, he incorporate elements of each genre into his
illustrations and paintings.
